The Metropolitan Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Turin (Italian: Duomo di Torino) - the most important Catholic church in Turin. Known for the Shroud of Turin kept in its side chapel.
It was created in the years 1491-1498, probably as the work of Meo del Caprina. The Shroud Chapel was added in the years 1668-1694.

The Shroud of Turin - linen canvas with a two-sided image (from the front and back) of the human figure. There are numerous red marks on the material. It is kept in Turin, in the chapel of the Holy Shroud (la cappella della Sacra Sindone) of the Cathedral of St. st. John the Baptist. Despite the fact that it is one of the most scientifically analyzed objects in the history of mankind, the origin and nature of the image preserved on canvas is still a mystery to modern science.
