A thought-provoking place. Shortly before the end of World War II, inmates of the Buchenwald concentration camp were transferred to Flossenbürg. This "death march" cost many lives, especially at this location. A very impressive memorial was created here to keep the memory alive.

A large granite block with the inscription "In memory of the victims of the death march of April 15, 1945" commemorates the 17 people who lost their lives here, emaciated and exhausted, shortly before the capitulation of the German Reich in the Second World War, during a march of dozens of prisoners guarded by Nazi henchmen from the Buchenwald concentration camp in Thuringia to the concentration camp in Flossenbürg in Upper Palatinate. On January 26, 1946, their mortal remains were reburied in the eastern cemetery of Marktleuthen and found their final resting place in a collective grave.
