The path leads past the Altranft-Sonnenburg pasture landscape. It is very quiet (hardly any people or cars) and idyllic. You can hear lots of birdsong, insects hum and buzz.
The varied landscape of species-rich dry grassland and forests was used as sheep pasture for a long time, even during military use.
There used to be a Russian training area here. The tanks at the time belonged to the Eberswalde garrison.
