It's hard to believe that such a hiking highlight can be found almost in the middle of the city. The path above the old bridge requires surefootedness and sensible footwear (especially if the ground is damp). But it is great fun to walk on the narrow path along the Engelbach and sometimes a little climbing over a tree trunk is necessary.

Here the Engelsbach flows from its source in the Waldau down to the Rhine. The narrow path winds through the jungle-like valley, numerous small and larger bridges lead across the stream. Beautiful until shortly before Poppelsdorf, where the creek disappears underground.
