The Chapel of St. John Nepomuk stands on a small square in front of the gates of the Piseker Gate (Lower Gate). The chapel dates from the Baroque period. It was built in 1774. The help of the martyr, who was thrown from the Charles Bridge in Prague in 1393 and drowned, was sought in the event of water and travel dangers. Another John Nepomuk Chapel stands at the former Passau Gate (Upper Gate) of the city.
