    The Palais Granvelle is a beautiful Renaissance palace in Besançon, built by Nicolas Perrenot de Granvelle, a powerful advisor to Emperor Charles V. The impressive Renaissance facade consists of three floors and five bays. The large roof is decorated with ornaments and has three dormer windows with a richly decorated pediment above. The beautiful, rectangular courtyard is surrounded by colonnades with very low arches. Behind it, the Promenade Granvelle runs in the former palace garden. The palace is now the Musée du Temps, a museum that shows the history of horology and horology in the city.
