The new wooden bridge over the Roode Beek stream in the Brunssummerheide is a recently constructed footbridge that makes the nature reserve accessible. At the beginning of July 2024, the old bridge was replaced by this new bridge, which was specially designed to better protect the unique plants and animals in the spring area. The area around the bridge is a unique part of the Brunssummerheide, with pioneer plants, wet heathland, and rare raised bog further upstream.The bridge is only accessible to pedestrians, which contributes to the preservation of this fragile natural environment. A fence has been installed at the site of the old bridge to prevent further disruption of the area.The bridge is included in several walking routes, including the "Wooden bridge over the Roode Beek – Roode Beek pond and sandy beach, Brunssummerheide circular walk from Langeberg." This route is approximately 4 km long and offers an easy walk suitable for all fitness levels.
