When you arrive at the Rennsteig, the Hirschstein with the high forest grotto is not far.Johann Gottlieb Dietrich (1765–1850) was the court gardener of Wilhelmstal Palace. He worked on the western slope of the Hirschstein around 1811 and opened up the high forest grotto there through a walkway with a bridge and stairs.
