The bath was built according to plans by Karl Schmalhofer and Otto Nadel and opened under Mayor Karl Seitz on July 8, 1926. It is named after the Social Democratic municipal councilor Amalie Pölzer (* June 27, 1871 Vienna, † December 8, 1924 Vienna), who was the first woman to be elected to the municipal council in 1919.
