The Liesing, also known as the Liesingbach, a 30 km long river, has its source in the Lower Austrian Vienna Woods, then flows through the city of Vienna, where the stream gives its name to the 23rd district of Vienna, Liesing, and flows back into the Schwechat in Lower Austria near Schwechat. Its name derives from the Slavic Lesnička and means forest stream. The Liesing has its source at two different springs at an altitude of around 520 m in the Vienna Woods.
