A grey concrete colossus rises from the Heiligengeistfeld, right in the heart of St. Pauli. What initially irritates tourists is an integral part of the cityscape for the people of Hamburg: Nestled between the Millerntor Stadium and the Karoviertel, the almost 50-metre-high bunker in St. Pauli has long since become a landmark for young Hamburg. Known as the "Media Bunker", "Bunker on Feldstrasse" or, more recently, the "Green Bunker", Hamburg's largest and one of the few remaining high-rise bunkers in the city stands for creativity, urban culture and participation.
