Doctor Eisenbart Statue, Hann. Münden

On the Doktorwerder, a small island in the Werra, stands the statue of Dr. Eisenbart.

Eisenbart traveled from market to market throughout the German-speaking region. There is evidence that he worked in 83 places: between Aurich and Innsbruck, between Koblenz and Danzig, in Berlin, in Frankfurt/Main and Leipzig, in Stettin, Weimar, Erfurt, Bremen and Braunschweig. He had received privileges for their principalities from ten German princes. He mainly treated eye diseases (cataract operations), inguinal and testicular hernias, bladder stones, cleft lip and palate and cancer.
