Hann-Münden old town with over 700 half-timbered houses

The old town is particularly impressive due to its many beautiful half-timbered houses. Some of them are currently being renovated. However, it is annoying that modern illuminated signs are attached to the facades to draw attention to the shops that are located on the ground floor of some of the houses.

The old town of Hannoversch-Münden, which is located on the estuary triangle and was originally just called Münden, is considered a half-timbered town of European standing with its half-timbered houses from six different centuries. In the heart of the old town is the market square, where the Münden town hall, one of the most beautiful buildings in the so-called Weser Renaissance style, was built at the beginning of the 17th century. The magnificent south façade in the Renaissance style faces the venerable market square.Due to the numerous buildings with medieval structures, full-time city and monument conservationists have been responsible for the careful handling of the medieval buildings in the old town in Hannoversch-Münden since the 1960s.
