On the hill of the mountain Rabanenkopf stands about 90 meters above Hann. Münden the lookout tower Tillyschanze. The tower was built in the 1880s and stands on the site of a former castle. From its top you have a great view of the picturesque old town of Hann. Munden. A few meters from the tower is the Waldgaststätte Tillyschanze.

A visit from Hann. Münden without an ascent to the Tillyschanze is like a cake without cream. Once you have managed the short, steep climb, you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the city and the surrounding mountains. The footwear should be non-slip, especially for the descent.

A great conclusion to the Weserberglandweg - yes conclusion, because we ran it the other way round as the description suggests. And in retrospect it can be said that it is much nicer to arrive here in Hann-Münden and to find a hotel in the city than to arrive at the train station in Porta Westfalica.

The Tillyschanze and its restaurant are something very special. The state border between Hessen and Lower Saxony runs up here. The Tillyschanze is in Lower Saxony and the restaurant is already part of Hesse. A special highlight is that you can say yes on the Tillyschanze. Information is available in the town hall of Hann.Münden.
