There are 2 variants of origin through this atonement cross (see picture).
Two legends have been handed down.
1. From Hohendorf to Schönberg you will find a stone cross. A peasant had set this up after he had killed his son by throwing a reindeer because he had caused harm to a cow. This legend is supported by the following entry in the death book of the parish office Brambach 1603-1722, page 22 from the year 1612, Nr.XX:
