The sprat flowing in from Thuringia from the castle Posterstein via Schmölln meets here the Pleiße coming from the Upper Pleißenland in Saxonia, which passes before the cities Werdau, Crimmitschau and Schmölln. After the capture of the Wyhra north of Borna, the Pleiße finally flows through Leipzig to its mouth in the White Elster.
