The Bismarck Tower Altenburg is a lookout tower built between 1914 and 1915 in the south of the eastern Thuringian skat and residence town of Altenburg on Zwickauer Strasse. The Bismarck Towers erected all over Germany are reminiscent of Imperial Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, who was venerated as the initiator of the founding of the Empire in 1871. In 1948 the building was renamed the Tower of Youth. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the building was officially renamed the Bismarck Tower.
