The Katharinenkirche was about to be demolished in GDR times and this beautiful Gothic church could only be preserved thanks to the commitment of dedicated parishioners. This commitment to the threatened church has had a lasting impact on the congregation. Today, this parish church is also a center for church music, with influence in the Altmark and neighboring Wendland.
