Several tree species were planted in this forest to determine which tree species are suitable for forestry operations. The giant sequoias are set back from the path and create a very unique atmosphere in the forest.
As of October 2021: A bench has been installed here so you can sit down and absorb the atmosphere. New signs about the tree species are also installed throughout the Rittnert Educational Forest – some with new plantings.
As of 2025: Passing here and a little further into the forest, there is now also a wooden lounger. Forest bathing comes to mind.

Hiking

Sequoia tree (Sequoia gigantea): Cultivation trial on a large scale in combination with other tree species. The Sequoie is very slow-growing in its youth and is very endangered by frost and game. When it has overcome this stage, in which it is also strongly pressed by the added tree species, it develops very good growth in height and thickness, as can be seen here. The mixed trees, hardly half as strong, are of the same age as the sequoia.
