The church in Mintard is first mentioned in a document from 873. The founder of the Gerresheim monastery in Düsseldorf installed his daughter Regenberga as the first abbess in Gerresheim. The "Regenbiergsche Urkunde" is named after her, in which Mintard is mentioned for the first time. It authenticated a deed of gift on September 24, 873.

The Catholic Church of St. Joseph is located at the intersection of Ringstrasse and Heiligenhauser Strasse. The parish once belonged to the original parish of Mintard. The construction of this church based on a design by Emil Jung began in 1934 for the steadily growing Catholic community. The church tower was only completed in 1952. Inside a Romanesque baptismal font and beautiful stained glass windows by Georg Wendling. The granite alter was designed by Karl Franke. The half-timbered house (attested since 1417) next to the church used to belong to Hugenpoet Castle; today it is the rectory.
