In June 2024, the Gerardabrug was opened, a cycle bridge on the F4 Antwerp-Ghent, which runs over the Vijfstraten intersection. The ‘Gerardaburg’ pays tribute with its name to former cyclist Gerarda Van Steelandt (1910-2006) from Nieuwkerken.
Under the cycle bridge, Simo created a large street art work that refers to this special cyclist, who made a name for herself on the road and track in the 1920s and 1930s.
