Here you have a very nice view over the Ferkensbruch with reed belt, dam and fish ladder.

The Nette Lakes are part of the Schwalm-Nette Nature Park in the Lower Niederrhein area, near the Dutch border. They are located in the town of Nettetal in the district of Viersen. They have their name from the river Nette, in the valley lowlands are these artificially accumulated and partially enlarged by peat extraction lakes.

In detail are to be called: the small Breyeller lake (water surface: 5,3 ha), the large Breyeller lake (9,2 ha), the nice break (13,2 ha), the Windmühlenbruch (6 ha), the Ferkensbruch (4 , 5 ha), the Small De Witt Lake (4.5 ha) and the Great De Witt Lake (22.5 ha). Further downstream, following the passage of the Secretis marsh, follow the Krickenbecker lakes.

Very interesting story about this staircase

Ferkensbruch arose from peat extraction, in which the water of the Nette flows through to its mouth. The anglers tried their luck here, apparently there are a lot of fish.
