The baroque old colliery was shown on a mine map as early as 1730. It is assumed that tools and ore supplies were stored in this house and that it was also used as a mountain forge. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was here often in his capacity as head of the mining commission. Today the mine house is in private hands and access is unfortunately not possible.

The mine house served as an administrative building for copper and silver mining, which was operated on the Sturmheide from the 15th to the 18th century. Built around 1730 in baroque form, the mine house is one of the oldest houses in the city. J. W. v. Goethe was involved here several times in mining matters.
