The Schöberlinie was built by the Czech military in 1937 and stretches from the Elbe to the Lusatian Mountains. Very often natural obstacles, such as the Kamenice Gorge, have been built into this defensive ring. A total of over 9,000 bunkers and a few hundred heavy fortresses are said to have been concreted in this defensive ring.
