The route also runs along the Altenberg culture and forest nature trail, on which you can learn interesting things at several stations. But you can also see the small quarry in which Greywacke sandstone was mined, which was used to build the mill and dams..."

Hiking

More than 700 years ago stones were quarried for the construction of the pond dams, for walls and possibly even for the foundation of the nearby Berge Castle from the 12th century. Large quantities of stones were also needed for the renewal of the 1.6 km long wall around Altenberg Abbey in the 17th century!
