Reurieth Castle was first mentioned in 1171 with the corresponding lords of the castle of Reurieth. The castle complex was rather small and was located directly on the Werra on a small hill. It was destroyed in the Peasants' War. Today only parts of the ring wall and a tower remain. The core area of the castle may not be entered due to the risk of collapse.
