The Römhilder quarry was operated from 1901 to 1968, the ruins of the crusher works are still there (as of 2013). From 1897 to 1981, a maximum of 140 workers worked in the Gleichamberg quarry in 1927. There was always a cable car with which the basalt was transported in Loren to the basalt works in Römhild at the train station and to Gleichamberg.
