The Römhilder quarry was operated from 1901 to 1968, the ruins of the crusher works are still there (as of 2013). From 1897 to 1981, a maximum of 140 workers worked in the Gleichamberg quarry in 1927. There was always a cable car with which the basalt was transported in Loren to the basalt works in Römhild at the train station and to Gleichamberg. In the Waldhaussiedlung, in the saddle of the two same mountains, there was a corner station where the Römhilder cable car changed direction. It was also a sawmill.
