Hotel below the Steinburg Museum. Next to it is a large parking lot, which can be used as a great starting point for a hike.

There are simply delicious things and it's worth a break, a cyclist 😅 tastes just as good.

4 kilometers from Römhild in the direction of Hildburghausen, in the saddle of the Gleichberge, you will find a colony of charming little villas. The hotel forms the center of the settlement
"Waldhaus" and the "Steinsburg Museum", which is known beyond Thuringia.
This territory was settled by the Celts as early as 500 - 700 BC. The Waldhaussiedlung owes its existence to the discovery of the prehistoric
Settlement on the Kleiner Gleichberg by the Henneberg Antiquities Research Association founded by Ludwig Bechstein during an excursion in 1838 and by himself
developing research by the Römhild doctor, Hofrat Gottfried Ernst Jacob (1826 - 1886), Constantin Kümpel (1856 - 1942) a teacher at the technical center in Hildburghausen and Professor Dr. Alfred Götze (1865 - 1948), the important researcher personality on the Celtic settlement
in the Gleichberg area of the past century.
In 1897, during a lecture on the Celtic settlement in Römhild, C. Kümpel encouraged further exploration of the Steinsburg after the death of Dr. Jacob and also the construction of a restoration at the sand well.
