The domain of Hof ter Zielsbeek was laid out in 1830 as a park in the English landscape style. Traces of this can certainly still be found in the part west of the Zielsbeek (or Birrebeek). Once over the bridge it is somewhat wilder... and wetter especially.
This boardwalk is therefore not superfluous.
