The house was first registered in the land registry in 1865 as the property of Franciscus Pansaerts, sawyer. According to local tradition, it was built by a day laborer who worked on a neighboring estate.

This small half-timbered house with a perpendicular brick outbuilding and wall is located on the southwestern edge of the city, and until recently was the only building on the former Walstraatje, a side street of the Koepoortstraat, itself a historic arterial road.

The house, surrounded by city canals, is located on the edge of the Gete valley, which is of great scenic value, along the former Walstraatje, a side road of the Koepoortstraat, which leads to the remains of a former water gate and currently forms part of the tourist walking circuit "Vestenwandeling". Until recently the only building, the house is now flanked by a pseudo-parsonage, an outpost of a recent subdivision.

This modest half-timbered building has two bays in style and framework (oak and elm) on a pitched brick plinth. Initially, the saddle roof of red Boom tiles rested on two gable trusses and an intermediate truss. One gable truss has since been removed after the side facade was petrified. The whitewashed wall sections are still largely clayed with Haspengouw vitswerk and partly petrified, with the right gable point being protected by a panelling of roof tiles.

In the front facade a simple clamped door flanked by a small four-part window and a larger six-part, rectangular window and at the top, under the eaves, a rectangular attic hatch; in the rear facade two small light openings, one of which has an inner hatch. The house comprises on the left the living room with adjoining "mose" or "speng" and on the right, at the front a tiny cellar with a trapdoor and a small room, at the back a bedroom and in between a transitional space with a ladder to the attic.

In the basic furnished living space with black and white tiled floor and panel doors a wooden draught axis and a simple brick mantelpiece flanked by a partially glazed wall cupboard.

At right angles to the house a perpendicular outbuilding in whitewashed brick and pantile saddle roof, openwork with two rectangular doors. Adjoining it is a brick wall that closes off the inner courtyard.

Well preserved and charming half-timbered house, with outbuilding and courtyard.
