The Saint Sophien Church, located in the Barmbek district of Hamburg, was completed in 1900. It was the first Catholic church in Hamburg to have a full ring of 3 bells. After the Second World War it was an important place of worship, especially for the "little people" who preferred to settle in this part of Hamburg. People affectionately refer to their church as the “Barmbeker Cathedral”.

St. Sophien is a Roman Catholic parish church in Hamburg-Barmbek-Süd, Weidestrasse 53. The church, which opened in 1900, was donated by shipowner Wilhelm Anton Riedemann.
The naming may go back to the common first name "Sophie" of Riedemann's wife and daughter; officially the church bears the patronage of Sophia of Rome.
The building is a historical monument.
