St. Sophien Kirche, which is located in Hamburg's Barmbek district, was completed in 1900. As the first Catholic church in Hamburg, she had a full ring of 3 bells. After World War II, it was an important place of worship especially for the "little people" - v.a. Workers and craftsmen - who preferred to settle in this part of Hamburg. People affectionately refer to their church as the "Barmbek Cathedral".
