    Was founded in 1951 as a young theater by the actors Friedrich Schütter and Wolfgang Borchert and some like-minded people, as a counterpoint to the established theaters. In 1973 the theater was renamed "Ernst Deutsch Theater" in honor of Ernst Deutsch, an outstanding post-war actor.
    In 2001, the forecourt was named Friedrich-Schütter-Platz, the memory of the co-founder and director Friedrich Schütter (1921–1995. The square was designed by the designer Peter Schmidt and has an 18-meter-high red stele in the middle of the square .
