was the largest tunnel boring machine in the world at the time, with an outer diameter of 14.20 meters. For the expansion of the new Elbe Tunnel in Hamburg, a 2,560-meter-long fourth tunnel was bored beneath the Elbe Riverbed between October 1997 and March 2000 using the shield boring method. The impressive drill head, with which the fourth tube of the Elbe tunnel was driven under the Elbe, is exhibited on the Bert-Kämpfert-Platz on the banks of the Osterbekkanal.
