The main avenue is not only the central axis of the spa town of Bad Pyrmont, it is also considered one of the oldest spa parks in Germany.

It begins to the north at Brunnenplatz (Fountain Square), where the Hyllige Born – Pyrmont's oldest healing spring – bubbles up in a twelve-columned fountain temple in front of the Wandelhalle (Promenade Hall). This square, where the Brodelbrunnen (Bubbling Fountain) is also located, is the heart and symbol of Bad Pyrmont.
