In 1858 the first Dominicans moved into the monastery, which was a country house at the time. The famous architect Pierre Cuypers (1827 – 1921) built the U-shaped monastery complex and the chapel. Later, the monastery underwent a number of renovations and expansions to what it is today, with the most recent addition in 2018: the realization of the Herberg.
A small community currently lives there. The life of Jesus is central to the Dominicans in word and deed. They are critical and looking for authenticity, just as the founder of the order was; Dominic de Guzman (1170-1221).
