The park was renamed in 1905 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death in Schillerpark. The Schillerpark restaurant (now an Irish pub) was built at the end of the 1940s for the Southwest German horticultural exhibition and was probably for decades a very popular excursion restaurant with outdoor dance floor.
