On April 7, Dürer was buried not far from the grave of his friend Willibald Pirckheimer (St. Johannis I / 1414) in the St. Johannis Cemetery in Nuremberg. For a long time, the grave was covered by a simple metal plate that his father-in-law Frey had built for himself and his family until 1681 Joachim von Sandrart rebuilt the dilapidated grave (St. Johannis I / 0649)
