Until 1912, a simple fountain stood in front of the centuries-old linden tree. The Haingericht, which was first documented in 1489, once met below it. Its responsibility is also described in the handwritten Eberstadt village regulations from 1555. It was not an official court but rather an organ of rural self-government. However, there was no well there in earlier times. It wasn't until 1713 that one was built, fed by spring water from the northeast of Eberstadt, which was led into the village in wooden pipes and supplied two more wells.
