Wedding Tower, Darmstadt's landmark, on the Mathildenhöhe. The name of the Wedding Tower goes back to the marriage of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig and Princess Eleonore zu Solms-Hohensolms-Lich in 1905. After the engagement was announced, the Grand Duke consulted the Viennese architect Josef Maria Olbrich. Both raved about a sign that the city wanted to use to commemorate this event that could be seen from afar. Designed by Olbrich, the 48.5 m high tower was built in 1907-1908 by the city's building department

The wedding tower is a real eye-catcher from the outside. Whether you are willing to pay four euros to see two rooms inside is something you have to think about. You can climb to the top or take the elevator. However, once you get to the top you cannot go outside. The view is only possible through glazed windows 😕
