      Located on the outskirts of Wachenheim, the "Most Beautiful Wine View" offers a view of the Wachtenburg castle ruins - the landmark of the traditional wine and sparkling wine town on the German Wine Route.

      The Wachtenburg, which consists of an upper core complex and the younger lower castle, is said to have been built as early as the 12th century. The rectangular keep served as a residential and defensive building. The upper castle was surrounded by a ring wall with five towers, the easternmost of these towers is particularly worth seeing. During the Palatinate War of Succession in 1689, the Wachtenburg was largely destroyed.

      The "Most Beautiful Wine View" is on the "Rieslingtour" circular hiking trail and only a short detour from the "Pfälzer Weinsteig" long-distance hiking trail and the "Deutsche Weinstraße" hiking trail.
