former A4 motorway, completely dismantled and now a wonderful natural retreat
February 29, 2024
In 2009/2010, the former A4 motorway was dismantled and partially left to nature. Many trees and plants have now reclaimed the motorway. In summer, you can find an almost endless variety of butterflies and plants here. The butterflies and bees are particularly fond of the mountain thyme. But you can also see lots of deer, wild boar and even a herd of mouflons (which escaped from private individuals a good 25 years ago) with a lot of luck...provided you don't shout in the forest. I myself have also been able to observe young wolves passing through in the spring on my walks a few times. I grew up here and love my home. I hope that visitors who visit "my forest" treat the nature and animals here with care and don't leave any rubbish behind, don't make any noise and don't destroy anything. Unfortunately, I have often experienced things differently.
