It is named after Georg Philipp Telemann, who was born on March 14th, 1681 in Magdeburg and died on June 25th, 1767 in Hamburg. Telemann was a German Baroque composer and wrote a cantata (multi-movement song and music piece) every 14 days for the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig.
