A popular photo motif 📷 for locals and guests of the city of Goslar - even before the whole "selfie cult" broke out. 😉

The couple from the rose gate
A sculpture by Fernando Botero, one of the most famous visual artists in Latin America, stands at the Rose Gate. The sculptures by the Colombian painter, born in Medellin in 1932, who has also worked as a sculptor since 1976, can be found in Goslar in many cities around the world. The sculpture is not, according to the Goslar vernacular, titled “Die Dicken am Rosentor”, but simply means “Man with a stick” and “Woman with an umbrella”.
At least a few years ago, the couple looked as if they were headed straight for the registry office. Since this has moved, you could see them as a couple on their way to a long stroll through the city instead of well-nourished married couples.
