The Couple at the Rose Gate

A sculpture by Fernando Botero, one of Latin America's most famous visual artists, stands at the Rose Gate. The sculptures by the Colombian painter, born in Medellin in 1932 and also working as a sculptor since 1976, can be found in Goslar, as well as in many major cities around the world. The sculpture is not titled "The Fat Men at the Rose Gate," as is popularly known in Goslar, but simply "Man with Cane" and "Woman with Umbrella."

The couple looked, at least a few years ago, as if they were heading straight for the registry office. Since the registry office has moved, they could be seen as a couple on their way to a leisurely stroll through the city, rather than as well-fed couples getting married.

A popular photo motif 📷 for locals and guests of the city of Goslar - even before the whole "selfie cult" broke out. 😉

A sculpture by Fernando Botero, an artist from Latin America, stands at the Rosentor.

But actually means: "Man with stick"-"Woman with umbrella"

According to an information board, a loan from the artist...

        📸 Great photo motif 📸
