Hiking
The fountain was designed around 1599 by the European-renowned sculptor Adriaen de Vries. The bronze group on the pillar in the basin depicts Mercury and, at his feet, Cupid untying the sandals of the god of trade. This symbolizes the wish and certainty that Mercury will remain in Augsburg and maintain the flourishing trade and thus prosperity of the city.
