Leverkusen Rhine Bridge

Impressive building

The new motorway bridge near Leverkusen - at least the first partial structure. The work began in 2017 after the old bridge was so dilapidated that it had to be completely closed to trucks. The new bridge has been accessible since February 2024. The old bridge will now be demolished and a second new bridge will be built, which is expected to be completed in 2027. There will then be a bridge in each direction of travel, with entrances and exits to the motorway intersections on both sides.

The new construction of the Leverkusen Rhine Bridge will improve the traffic situation not only for motor vehicles but also for bicycles. Finally wide paths that also allow oncoming traffic without any problems. Unfortunately, the access on the Leverkusen side is still quite a meander through construction sites and temporary structures, but hopefully that will change.
