The historic town center of Annweiler am Trifels includes the Protestant town church, the pretty and well-kept market square, the mill wheel belonging to the town mill in the Queich and the tanners' quarter with its famous “Schipkapass” alley. The tanners were responsible for the city's economic rise in the 16th and 17th centuries. The history of the city is shown in the museum under the Trifels, which is well worth seeing.
