The green Palpuogna lake blends in wonderfully with the surrounding larch forest. Especially in autumn there is a colorful play of colors. Natural gas escapes from the many craters in the lake bed, and over time a double bottom has developed in some cases.
What is also special about the lake is that it has been used to generate electricity since 1898. In 2007 it was voted the “most beautiful spot in Switzerland”.
