Along the Huisepontweg past the castle of Wannegme-Lede towards Huis there is a chapel, lonely and deserted. According to tradition, it was spotted after the Battle of Oudenaarde (July 11, 1708), in which French army units took on English, Spanish, Habsburg and Dutch troops. Between 5,000 and 7,000 men are said to have lost their lives that day in the fields between Huise, Wannegem-Lede and Oudenaarde. The chapel marks the northwest point of the battle scene at that time.
