On the 71-meter high Pannenberg stands the ruin of a former drinking water reservoir, which was built from 1912 onwards. It had an observation platform built of fieldstones, from which, however, a distant view is unfortunately no longer possible today. The elevated reservoir, which the inhabitants of Bornim call Wasserturm, was probably decommissioned as early as the 1950s, after the new Nedlitz waterworks went into operation. Afterwards, it was temporarily used for storing brine, which was sprayed in the GDR to defrost icy roads. Now the structure is exposed to decay.

From my own experience, I advise you to leave your bike down and not take it up. 🤦♀️ Regardless of which side you come from: otherwise you have to wear it on the way back as well as on the way there.
