Wukang Road – Historic Charm in the Former French Concession One of Shanghai's most iconic streets, Wukang Road winds for 1.2 km through the heart of the former French Concession. Probably the most famous building on Wukang Road, it is located at its southern end at the intersection with Huaihai Road. It is now a protected historic apartment building, and maybe the signature work of Hungarian-Slovak architect Laszlo Hudec, and completed in 1924. It is still in use as apartment building, with some retail on the ground floor. Its wedge shape reminds of the Flatiron Building in New York.
